The veterinarians and staff at Island Trees Veterinary Hospital in Hicksville understand that emergencies are never pleasant or convenient. Our compassionate veterinary medical staff is more than prepared to handle a wide range of emergencies during our regular business hours. We do ask that if possible, you give us a call prior to coming in so we can be prepared for your arrival.
If your pet has an emergency that occurs outside the hospital emergency care hours—7 AM to 11 PM—please call the hospital at (516) 735-0090 to speak with an Island Trees Veterinary Hospital veterinarian for treatment advice.
When to Seek Emergency Care for Your Pet
- Difficulty breathing
- Acute abdominal swelling
- Electric shock
- Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
- Excessive bleeding
- Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke or hypothermia
- Repetitive and prolonged seizures
- High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
- Unable to urinate or defecate
